Best Practices

  1. RESEARCH & PREPARE
    • Not all campaigns, like emergency or disaster relief, have the luxury of time to plan. However, the most successful campaign organizers typically take some to prepare. Start by taking a look at other successful campaigns and find out what they did right and decide if you should host an event in addition to your campaign. Consider setting up additional social media accounts or a website and blog just for your campaign.
  2. MAKE IT COMPELLING
    • If your campaign sounds like everyone else's, then there is nothing to distinguish you from the dozens or hundreds of others trying to raise money. Be sure to personalize your story and images to inspire people to donate.
  3. BE SPECIFIC
    • Potential donors do not want to donate to a vague campaign. The more specific you can be when talking about how donations will be used, the better! If possible, separate donations out into giving levels that tell the donor exactly what each amount will help you accomplish. Creating transparency will make it more likely that potential donors will trust you and contribute!
  4. GET THE WORD OUT EARLY
    • 42% of the funds you will raise will happen in the first and last three days of your campaign. Start sharing early through all channels and make a big promotional push toward the end of your campaign.
  5. BE MOBILE
    • Our Crowdfunding forms are mobile-friendly by default, so you are set! Donations made on mobile devices account for over 15% of all funds contributed.
  6. UPDATE FREQUENTLY
    • When you can, update your organization's page with how their donations are specifically helping your cause. This keeps your audience engaged and more likely to donate or share with their network. Fundraisers with five updates can raise 15 times more than those with only one.
